yasipedia #11: my thoughts do be sending me on a carousel
And so we meet again. Last time we spoke I was still bonjing. Now I am back in America and back in the google doc and the bonj has left my eyes. But that’s okay folks. As I like to say to my therapist (even though it’s fairly clear she truly hates this): Life is a highway.
Since I last sent out my chaotically intermittent correspondence (I talk to you every now and again fr) I did launch a brand new podcast called 24 Question Party People, which is an interview podcast that requires approximately 90% less work than Bandsplain. It’s really the no thoughts just vibes counterpart, if you will. (Bandsplain is not done, it will be back soon I promise, I have over 140 pages of Google Doc to prove it).
Anyway we’ve put up 24QPP episodes with Liz Phair, Adam Duritz of Counting Crows, Jason Isbell, Ian Shelton of Militarie Gun, and Stephan Jenkins. If you don’t like it, I am so very sorry. But if you do, you are right. (Here I am quoting my king and dream guest David Matthews. We will pod together one day, mark my words).
If you listened to the Stephan Jenkins episode and you were like wait I want to see those sparkly white wrap around Arnette glasses Yasi, boy do I have a treat for you.
And if you were like Yasi are you an insane hoarder who needs help and maybe Jesus? The answer is:
Since I lost the disposable camera with the photos of 15 year old me with Mark, Tom, and Scott, here is a photo of Mark, Tom, and Scott without 15 year old me from that same day (white wrap around glasses were VERY in babe):
What else?
I cried for a couple of days over the passing of Sinead O’ Connor but I’m not going to write about that here because there are people doing it way way better than me. I also cried starting at minute like two of the Barbie movie (which I thought was fine) but the inexplicable (and enduring!) crying led me to believe that perhaps life IS a highway, but not exactly in the way I initially thought.
I’ve been listening to a lot of the latest Bully album Lucky For You which is like criminally good, and also for some reason a lot (like, a lot) of the song “Run Around” by Blues Traveler. I’m feeling some type of way clearly.
Also today my friend Bethany Cosentino (did you guys know I am friends with Bethany Cosentino?) put out her absolutely shimmering debut solo album Natural Disaster and if you have a heart and two ears and any sort of predilection for 90s country, the Lilith Fair, or just fucking good music, do yourself a favor and get in the car and drive with it blasting from your speakers (preferably through a Starbucks drive-thru).
Lastly here is a sign I saw today from the universe:
Life…a highway…
Until next time, let a tank of gas be a treasure to you…
